The Farmers

We like to say that farmers take months/years to create the perfect meat. Takes us about 45 minutes for us to craft it, and a couple seconds to put it in the microwave and ruin it all.
Jokes aside, here are the real artists behind the amazing quality products we carry.

Brian Giesbrecht

Langley, BC

Brian is the genius farmer that is behind our famous pork. The happy pigs that Brian takes care of are pasture raised in Langley BC, live outside and are fed nuts throughout their lives. He raises a breed mix of Mangalista and Berkshire.

Langley, BC

Mark, Kathy, their daughter Jill and daughter in-law Jessica, grow pasture raised chickens and turkeys. K&M's philosophy of growing chickens longer and in their natural environment gives them the opportunity to express natural behaviour like peck. scratch, forage and dusth bathe. Their pasture raised chickens are raised for 55 days which is close to twice the age of most chicken purchased in grocery stores.

Churn Creek, BC

Since 1998, Joyce and John have been raising grass-fed and finished beef in 'Empire Valley' (also Churn Creek Protected Area), located in central BC, a farm established  in the 1860's.  It's majestic, open grasslands benches along the Fraser River and the hot dry climate is the perfect place to raise Hormone-Free, Open Range, Premium Quality Beef.  Through rotational grazing practices and natural grazing patterns of their cattle, they have been
able to restore natural grassland species and enhance native grass production. They were awarded the BC Rangelands Management Award for 2008 from the Society for Range
Management (BC Chapter).

Creston, BC

Wendy and Dale McNamar have been farming together for more than two decades. They manage their Creston Valley (Kootenay) farm where they holistically manage their hair bred St. Croix / Royal White sheep. They rightfully believe that raising smaller numbers of animals ensures that personal care is given to each and every animal.

Their animals graze in lush pastures most of the year, supplemented during the winter months with homegrown alfalfa/grass hay.

Salmon Arm, BC

Matt and Kim, a husband and wife duo who started Reverent Acres. Their philosophy is all based around the respect and care of their family, customers’, and animals’ health. Their water buffalo are grass fed and finished, and have wide open spaces to graze from; all free from antibiotics, and hormones.
To some folks, there’s not too much apparent difference between bison and buffalo. In fact, many use the term bison and buffalo interchangeably.
Bison are native to North America and water buffalo come from Asia and Africa. Water buffalo vary in temperament. African Cape water buffalo can be quite wild and dangerous, while Asian water buffalo – the buffalo that live at Reverent Acres – are more friendly and better suited to farm life.

Grindrod, BC

Jamie and his family run Black Yak Cattle Farms and pride themselves on caring for their animals and caring for the land. More efficient at absorbing nutrients than traditional beef breeds, Yak are the ideal livestock animal to raise solely on grass and forages. Their Tibetan Yaks are herd raised and free range on pasture to ensure their health in mind and body. Sustainable farming practices and a holistic approach to animal husbandry allows their stock to lead as natural a life as possible, free from GMO grains, antibiotics, growth hormones, inoculations and stress. From their pasture to your plate is a process that takes up to three years and results in quality you can taste in every bite.
